the first: obedience is not simply doing what is right. obedience is doing what is right for the right reasons. without the right motives and the right reasons it is merely compliance.
the second: the way to prevent getting caught up in (or frustrated by) the "numbers vs individuals" struggle is to focus on the doctrine and the message being taught.
