the house of god

saturday is my temple day. i have a goal to attend at least once a week because its a commandment to go and i know there are beautiful blessings promised for those who obey.

“Now, by virtue of the sacred priesthood in me vested … I promise you that, with increased attendance in the temples of our God, you shall receive increased personal revelation to bless your lives as you bless those who have died.” -David B. Haight

i have come to love the temple and what it offers. today i went seeking guidance, peace, inspiration, love, and answers. although i didnt receive any immediate answers i was blessed to feel god's presence. it was a beautiful feeling.

not sure if you knew this or not but i was told recently about the temple and i thought i could share cuz i think about it now everytime i see the provo temple. this is only the provo temple and since youll prolly take out your endowments here(right? im actually not sure) i think itd be nice to know: try to follow me on this one,

Ex. 13: 21-22
21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:
22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

there is also this word shekinah. basically it means the glory of God or the presence of him. its used to describe that and i was told that that same word was used to describe the provo temple. not sure about that part tho.

so putting all this together the round part of the provo temple is the pillar of clouds and the spire the pillar of fire. its the pillar that leaded and guided moses and the children of israel. as we go into the temple we are entering those pillars of cloud and fire to actually BE with God. IN his presence. And like the children of israel and moses we can be lead by that same pillar that lead them. i guess its food for thought as you prepare to enter. but you need to actually enter. its not enough to just look at it from a distance. and once your are guided it does you no good to know and not follow. you need to know, understand and then do for it to be of any use or else youll wonder aimlessly or even worse like with pharaohs men get cut off.

for me at least it helps to appreciate it more instead of thinking it looks like a birthday cake:p

prepare well. it is in a very real sense entering into Gods presence. More real than you may currently be aware.

Love you nell!!!
