god is real

today marks history.

I GOT MY MISSION CALL!!! :)

and i am SO excited!!! :D

i will attempt to recall all the juicy details of the afternoon/evening because it was so so good. but first, lets rewind to sunday. no wait...to friday.

last week friday (feb.5th)
this was the day i could submit my papers. the rule is that you cant submit your papers until 90 days before your availability date. and since my availability was may 5th (2 weeks after graduation), the earliest i could submit my papers was february 5th. aka last week friday. so this is the day my papers were supposed to be submitted.

now lets fast forward a few days to sunday.

this past sunday (feb.7th)
i got a call from my bishop around 9:45 pm. he said he logged in to the church website and saw that my call had been made on FRIDAY. as in the day that they were supposed to have been submitted! i was shocked! i was totally not expecting it!!! i was like 'how can that be!?'...i didnt know the reason. all i knew was that i was SO excited! (i figured maybe president heaton submitted them early...???) before hanging up i even had to clarify what he was saying...was it sent on friday? or just issued on friday? he assumed it was sent on friday. and that got me even more excited!

so i thought maybe it'll arrive by monday. but for sure it'd be here by tuesday. well...

monday
got home from school at 7pm.
no mail.
bummer.

tuesday
got home from school at 10pm.
no mail.
really?

wednesday
got home from school at 4:30pm.
still no mail.
dad was getting really anxious.

TODAY
i met up with steven at 10 am to work on our lab. but when we met up we decided to work on our homework instead. we haven't even learned the material in class yet so doing the lab would've been very unproductive. we finished the homework just in time for my dance class at 1. jesse and i took our dance test together and we finished with just enough time for me to make it to the bus at 1:57. i wanted to go home early to check the mail!!!

i thought for sure my call would arrive today. it HAD to...it'd already been almost a whole week since my call was sent (or made) and it was only coming from salt lake!

on my way home i told heavenly father that today wouldve been the perfect day to receive my call. i really wanted it today.

so i got off the bus and crossed the street to walk down my road. i passed the first house, and the second, and finally at the third......my eyes went straight to our mailbox.......and my heart sank. there was no sign of the big white envelope. i was bummed.

i texted everybody to say there was no mail today.

but deep down inside i had a feeling. i just KNEW it was supposed to be here today. i didnt know why it wasnt...but i still had hope. maybe the mailman just hadnt come yet...???

so i made myself a wrap. and sat on the couch to eat it. i had to keep my eye on the mailbox. :)

this was my view out the window:

and i just sat and ate and waited and waited.

every time i saw any signs of movement outside the window my heart skipped a beat. but there were no signs of a mailman. finally (at 2:29 pm to be exact) i decided to say a prayer. i told heavenly father that i really wanted my call today. i told him that i felt it was right and i needed to know if it was coming today or not. if it was coming i would sit there and wait. but if it wasnt i needed to go back up to campus and be productive. i just needed to know.

and then i continued eating....

at 2:33 (only four minutes later) there was a movement outside the window. IT WAS THE MAILMAN! IT WAS MY WHITE ENVELOPE!!! IT WAS HERE! MY PRAYER WAS ANSWERED! IT FINALLY CAME! and i pretty much went crazy. i was so excited i was beyond excited. i was bursting at the seams!

it was amazing. it was a miracle. god answered my prayer.

here is The Call in the mailbox

and here it is again, finally in my hands.

apparently it was mailed on the 9th. so that meant it only took 2 days to get here. :)

we decided to open the call at 9pm. the plan was to skype home so mom and dad and evan and ally could be there.

jesse and eva were the first to arrive. eva gave me a missionary journal which i absolutely love. and im excited to write in it.

jesse gave me cake. carrot cake, to be exact. and he also said "you can have your cake and eat it too" but i have no idea what that means.

amy is gonna be my faithful "future letter writer". and here's the first one. :) im looking forward to her letters cuz she is determined to be faithful.

we ended up having a lot of downtime (about an hour) because we ran into a few technical difficulties. james tried to figure it out while everyone else hung out and waited around.

meags entertained herself by jumping into erwins arms...

at one point the girls were having their own little dance party and i realized that we were all in white...but that wasnt even planned! :p so we had to take a picture. :)

james continued to mess with skype and tried to figure out what was wrong with it.

and everyone else just waited and waited. ever so patiently.

i finally got around to opening my call around 10pm.

it was so exciting! according to cami (and probably everybody else too) i "cheated" because i read ahead. so i knew where i was going before everyone else did! :p

i got yelled at for not reading aloud...somebody yelled "READ IT!"...im pretty sure it was jesse...and then EVERYBODY was yelling at me to read it. so i read it aloud.

"Dear Sister Wright:

You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Minnesota Minneapolis Mission."

i thought, minnesota? ....oh....

and then i said "and I report May 19."

then cam asked, "language?"

and my eyes scanned the letter as fast as they could...and then i screamed SPANISH! ahhhh!!!!!

it was a-MAZ-ing! i was so so so happy. and everyone else cheered and screamed along with me. :)

after my excitement died down i continued reading.

and of course, after i was done reading it, everyone wanted to see the map of my mission.

it was SUCH a beautiful letter. the words were powerful and inspiring. i LOVED it.

and then we ate! :) meags made a peach cobbler (and can now join the ranks of Professional Peach Cobbler Maker). i think erwin was pretty excited to eat it...

and i made pumpkin muffins with the trader joe's mix amy gave me for christmas. they were really ono!

before everyone left i made sure to get a picture with them. james was the first to leave. and if it weren't for him, we wouldnt have been able to skype home! it was a good thing he was able to come!

my visiting teachers also came. anya was an AMAZING photographer! she's the reason ive got all these pictures to share!

and then i took pictures with the fam. i love how excited cam looks in this one. :p

mauri came with rach.

and meags came with ry.

and erwin was excited about his new shirt.

jennie took off a few hours from work so she could be here. and candace came too.

and paco and fernando were the last to arrive.

and thats it! am i forgetting anything???

anyways, thanks everyone for coming to support. i greatly appreciated it. :)

at the end of the night i was exhausted. but so so happy.

im excited for the mission.

i feel ready for it.

and today was a testimony that god is real. he is so real.

p.s. for your viewing pleasure, i decided to include this. its as if you were there. :)

Thank you for letting me re-live a monumental moment in my life Lynnell. I'm so blessed to have been there when you read it and feel the immense spirit that comes from a prophets' voice. Minneapolis is big Indian Country too I tell you! hahaha... :)
