time to say goodbye

tonight we made dinner for luis' parents:
chicken katsu with rice and mac salad.
they liked it a lot...especially cuz it wasnt greasy. :)

we had a good time.
we talked about fish and meal times and spicy sauce and peru and other things too.
his dad cracked jokes and was super comfortable.

it was our very last time to hang out with him.
the very first time we met him was march 3, 2009.
i cant believe its already been over a year!

im gonna miss those boys.
im gonna miss our weekly activities.
im gonna miss laughing at their ridiculousness.

i hope his next mentors take good care of him.
i hope they do fun things together.
i hope they get along with him and are good role models.

im glad i did this.
im glad it was luis.
and im glad it was jesse.

goodbye boys...but only for now. :)

Oh my gosh! Be still our hearts :( We feel soooooo sad for you!

We reap what we sow, and when you and Jesse have put in so much, and Luis stuck to his commitment, we can only imagine the ache in your hearts. We are not sure if the memories would suffice, but they will have to. We dare say (prophesy) that if you work this hard on your mission, many, many, many, families and companions will hate to say goodbye and see you leave the mission field. Your heart will ache once more, with one difference, it will be 18 months of dedicated sacrifice to the LORD and his work, but you will return, move on, and move forward.

What a GREAT year it has been. Thank you for sharing your experiences with Jesse and Luis through the emails, then the blog, and even the phone conversations, over the past year. We truly feel like we have walked a mile in your (minnesota) moccasins, and we feel close to "your boys", too.

We are so pleased with the Christ-like attributes we have witnessed through your experience of sacrifice, commitment, dedication, and a whole BUNCH of fun.

Thanks again,
Mom and Dad

wow...thanks for the compassion. that was a very sweet letter. from the sounds of it, you might be more sad than me!!! :p it HAS been a great year and now that this chapter is closing its time for a new one. im excited about the mission but not looking forward to all the goodbyes. maybe saying bye to luis was good practice. i hope to keep in touch with him and his family though. :) just like the people i meet on my mission.

I forgot rock climbing and the Creamry on 9th...

And probably a whole lot more.

Forgetfulness, that's what happens when you get old and gray.

Meags,

Did you want me to make a list for you? Post something on your blog so we can respond. Something like "I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane"?
